Thomas C. Mattheson, D.C. joined Blackman Family Chiropractic and Nutrition Center in September of 2010.

Dr. Mattheson was born and raised in Andover, MA. He went to high school at Saint John’s Prep in Danvers, MA where he was accepted into the University of Syracuse in NY. He received a B.S. in Biology Health Science and an A.S. in Psychology. His choices were to go on to medical school, or look for alternatives in the health profession.

In 1984 Tom’s father had an accident, falling 18 feet off a ladder while working. He fractured his spine with several disc herniations. He was told by orthopedic surgeons that surgery was inevitable and that 100% recovery was very unlikely at the time. Once the fracture had healed, friends suggested he seek a second opinion and other alternatives. Though his fractures had healed, the pain was still severe. Hoping to avoid surgery, he began seeing a Chiropractor. After several months of exercise to strengthen his spine and chiropractic treatment, the pain had finally subsided. He continues to have regular treatments and has avoided surgery.

Dr. Mattheson’s goal was to become a heart specialist. After his dad’s experience, his dad asked, “Tom, why haven’t you thought of becoming a chiropractor? “

The seed was planted; Dr. Mattheson graduated close to home at the University of Bridgeport, College of Chiropractic in CT in 2007. Following Chiropractic College, he worked at Sun Micro Systems North East Headquarters in Burlington, MA. A well paying computer job helped pay off student loans while he continued to treat family and friends during this employment.

Dr. Mattheson then chose to follow his true passion in life, healing, and making a difference in the lives of others. In 2009, he started practicing in the state of MA as a licensed chiropractor.

Dr. Thomas C. Mattheson looks forward to meeting all of our new patients and continuing to play a role in every ones health care. It is a pleasure and honor to continue to serve the great Dover Community for over five years now.
